Work
My passion is leadership theory and practice. Without going into too much detail here, I have a view on leadership that is far broader and more nuanced than you’ve had to endure in mandatory seminars. I am a personal adviser on, among other things, accountability and response, asset recognition, effect potential, vision and mission development, strategy, prioritization and situational adaptation. This is always a refreshing pursuit, and very rewarding.
I also develop web sites. Web development is problem solving and its code is a language with a specifically relevant construct and purpose. And in its rigidity and tedium, it is completely unnatural to me. For me, developing a web site is a kooky discipline, like a Japanese rock garden or something. And its methodical discipline has been surprisingly relevant in my other pursuits.
On occasion I am called on to tap into what some people call a “motivational” perspective, and on these occasions it is a fact that I speak. You can put the two together.
I also have a little t-shirt label here in College Station, TX. Old Army Supply Co. is itself a pretty slick solution to a college-era problem, and it has stuck around. This is most certainly more hobby than business.
